Mechanics & Auto Services

Google review automation for Australian mechanics and auto workshops

Nobody trusts mechanics by default. That is the industry you are in, fair or not. Which means the workshops that visibly earn trust — hundreds of recent, specific, genuine reviews — take a wildly disproportionate share of new customers in their suburb.

What your customer receives

After: logbook service

Hi Claire, it’s Nick from Bayside Auto — thanks for bringing the car in today. If you were happy with the service and the price, would you leave us a quick Google review? Only takes a moment: [link]. Appreciate it.

Typical volume

80–250 vehicles per month

If you run a automotive workshop, this will sound familiar

  • You service 200 cars a month and get one review a quarter
  • Customers are relieved the bill was fair and then drive off and forget
  • The dealership down the road has 900 reviews and a marketing department
  • Your regulars love you and have never once mentioned it publicly
  • Reception is flat out at pickup and asking never happens

Why this works for mechanics & auto services specifically

Workshops have the highest natural volume of any business we work with, and volume is the whole game. At 200 vehicles a month, even a modest response rate compounds into a review count no local competitor can match within a year. The Peak-Gratitude Window here is the drive home — the car feels right, the bill was what you quoted, and the phone is in their hand at the next set of lights.

How customers in your trade actually search

“Mechanic near me”, “car service [suburb]”, “roadworthy inspection”, “logbook service” — these searches are almost entirely won in the map pack, and almost entirely decided on star rating and review count. A driver new to the area picks a workshop once and often stays for a decade. That first impression is worth thousands in lifetime value.

Risk reversal

The 30-Day Review Guarantee

Send at least 20 eligible customers through the system in your first 30 days. If you don't receive at least 3 new genuine Google reviews in that time, we refund your first month in full.

No retention call, no "let us try one more thing", no partial credit. You email us, we refund you. We've written the full terms in plain English rather than burying them.

What "eligible" means

  • A real customer you actually served in the period
  • A valid Australian mobile number or email address
  • Not previously asked and not on your suppression list
  • Consent captured in line with the Spam Act

We ask for 20 because below that the sample is too small for anyone to draw a fair conclusion — including you.

FAQ

Mechanics & Auto Services — your questions

Industry-specific answers first, then the ones everyone asks.

Should I send when the car is ready or after pickup?

After pickup, always. We trigger on collection, not completion — the customer needs to have the car back and feel the difference before you ask.

What about customers who got bad news and a big bill?

They still get asked, same as everyone. That is what compliance with Google’s policy requires and it is also just honest. In practice, a customer who got expensive bad news delivered honestly often leaves a very good review about exactly that.

Can I run this across two workshops?

Yes, on the Dominate plan — separate profiles, separate reporting, one login.

Do I need a CRM or job management software?

No. Most of our clients run on a phone and a notepad. We give you a Job Complete link you save to your home screen — type the customer’s name and mobile, pick who did the work, hit send. Ten seconds. If you do use ServiceM8, Simpro, Fergus, AroFlo, Tradify or Xero, we can connect it so requests fire automatically when you mark a job complete.

How fast can I be live?

Within one business day of you completing onboarding. We need your business name, your Google Business Profile link, and the first names of your team. We write and test your message templates, send you a live test to your own phone, and switch you on once you approve it.

How does the 30-Day Review Guarantee work?

Send at least 20 eligible customers through the system in your first 30 days. If you do not receive at least 3 new genuine Google reviews in that period, we refund your first month in full. No arguing, no retention call. The full terms are on our Guarantee page and we have deliberately written them in plain English.

Is this legal under Australian spam laws?

Yes, and we take it seriously. Under the Spam Act 2003 you need consent, accurate sender identification and a working unsubscribe. Your customers have an existing business relationship with you, every message clearly identifies your business, and replying STOP unsubscribes them instantly and permanently across all future messages. We will not send to a purchased list.

Does this breach Google’s review policies?

No. Google prohibits incentivised reviews, fake reviews and review gating. We do none of those. Google explicitly permits asking your customers for honest reviews — it is in their own Business Profile guidance. We ask every eligible customer the same way and we never filter by expected sentiment.
